How necessary is the calibration process for the Aura absolute optical encoder?

The need for gain, offset, phase and eccentricity calibration of the Aura Series encoder depends on the application accuracy requirement. Calibration helps to remove eccentricity, misalignment, and subdivisional errors. If you choose not to complete the calibration process, it could reduce the accuracy of the encoder from what is stated on the datasheet. Eccentricity and bearing runout are the most significant contributors to loss of accuracy. Gain, offset, and phase error contribute much less to accuracy error, but should still be considered in the calibration process.
