On Monday 10 October 2016, Cambridge based sensors company, Zettlex, celebrated the production of a very special sensor. It was sensor number 30,000 that had been produced since 10 October 2015 and it marked the company successfully doubling its production capacity in less than two years.
Zettlex designs and makes sensors for precision measurement of position or speed in harsh environments. The sensors are used by equipment manufacturers in the aerospace, defence, medical and petrochemical markets.
Zettlex General Manager, Mark Howard said: “We have seen a steady growth in demand over the last two years and the demand from overseas – especially with the favourable UK exchange rate – continues to increase. More than 80% of Zettlex sales are now for export to countries including Canada, Norway, France, Spain, Turkey and S. Korea. Doubling our capacity in just two years is a tremendous achievement and I must say a big thank you to all our productions staff who have worked so hard for this success.”
MP for South Cambridgeshire, Heidi Allen said “South Cambridgeshire has a long and proud tradition of innovation and high technology. Zettlex is a great example of a local, export oriented business which is making a name for itself on the global stage.”
