Electric Encoder™ is a trademarked reference applied to a capacitive form of position sensor made by Netzer Precision of Israel.
Although capacitive sensors and inductive sensors both use printed circuit boards as their main components, they use very different physical principles and, as such, are suited to very different kinds of applications.
Inductive sensors are the preferred choice over capacitive devices wherever there is a requirement for:-
Inductive encoders do not require tight installation tolerances to achieve high precision measurements and they are unaffected by foreign matter. This means there is no requirements for baffles or seals to protect the inductive encoder. Further, the rotor mounting shaft of an inductive sensors does not require electrical earthing.
