Complex antenna systems require very high accuracy and stability of motion to maintain precise moving target tracking, and communication or image lock with a satellite. Demanding compliance certification standards, MIL and DAL, may be needed when deploying radar installations in harsh environments. Additionally, systems with a high level of emissions usually mandate certain levels of shielding for human and electronics protection.

The Solution
Celera Motion’s Ingenia i195A servo drive is optimized for high-speed broadband antennas and radar turntables. Rugged communication protocols (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, or EtherCAT), harsh environment testing in extreme conditions, and system reliability are key factors to achieve outstanding performance, necessary for most airborne, maritime, and Satcom antenna systems. Withstanding extreme shock and vibration tests, extended temperature ranges, severe dust, humidity, and pressure tolerability, are also important when designing for extended environment applications.
Celera Motion’s Ingenia servo drives provide Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Failure (MTTF) calculations, as well as safety certifications for Safe Torque Off (STO).

The Benefit
Celera Motion’s Ingenia i195A servo drive is designed using a wide range of mechanisms to provide customers best-in-class EMC and EMI performance. A detailed EMC and EMI study is conducted for each servo drive developed, ensuring emissions will be minimized and immunity meets the application needs. If necessary, faraday cages and filters can be employed to further reduce emissions and improve immunity.
In radar and antenna applications, resolvers are often used to ensure signal integrity. Resolver interfaces are available on some drives. Interfaces to standard AqB incremental encoders, and SSI or BiSS-C absolute encoders, are also provided for applications requiring higher resolution.
