The benefit of an outer-rotating motor, compared to inner-rotating motor, is the larger rotor. This enables higher rotational inertia, which helps to dampen torque ripple and provides smooth rotation at low speeds. Additionally, the larger rotor enables more poles in the overall form-factor, increasing the magnetic flux.
Outer-rotating motors are ideal for applications with load fluctuations, where higher inertia can help provide smooth consistent motion. Click for more information on our outer-rotating motors (Omni UTO).
